Today, the Mercers’ Company has announced that experiential art gallery, founded by Hercules Fisherman has launched its debut exhibition, ‘Our Wonderful Culture’, in Covent Garden.
Located at 28/32 Shelton Street in the heart of the West End, ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ exhibition has been curated by renowned Japanese Sumi artist and is displayed within Hercules Fisherman’s latest venture in Covent Garden. Spanning over 2,000 sq ft across two floors, the latest exhibition pays homage to a collective of artists who put on captivating events and exhibitions together in the 80s and 90s. Adhering to the government’s lockdown measures, the team has worked hard to adapt the gallery’s offering, including launching live drawing sessions online, viewing the exhibition through VR, and remote online viewings for particular pieces of art.
Made up of a current wave of artists, poets, writers and performers, ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ is a collective aimed towards ‘Art for Good’; raising funds to help artists who have been badly effected due to the current uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This cause is targeted towards helping the creatively disadvantaged via paying their art tuition fees and expenses.
Hercules Fisherman, Creative Director, Our Wonderful Culture, commented: “Covent Garden remains a key area for us to open our revitalised gallery in the heart of the capital. From our humble roots in the 80s and 90s to now, we have come a long way, and are excited to be bringing the very best in tech and physical gallery experiences to visitors, all whilst raising funds for the disadvantaged via our ‘Art for Good’ initiative. We can’t wait towelcome more visitors through our doors in the new year and continue to deliver everything ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ stands for.”
Simon Taylor, Property Director at the Mercers’ Company, added: “We are always looking for opportunities and brands that can bring something diverse to our destination. As an experiential gallery concept, ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ is a unique addition to Covent Garden and sits well alongside the array of international brands already on offer here. The gallery provides an exciting and dynamic experience for those looking to make the most of the capital post-lockdown and we are confident ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ will be a hit with art aficionados and novices alike.”
In line with government guidelines, the ‘Our Wonderful Culture’ exhibition has adopted its internal environment to ensure they can welcome all customers safely post lockdown. This includes hosting a series of private viewings regularly and ensuring a one-way flow of visitors in and out of the gallery.
‘Our Wonderful Culture’s’ launch follows the recent news that high-end Italian salon brand, Patrizia Manias, has joined an array of premium retailers in Covent Garden, including Blow Ltd, Boots, Russell & Bromley, Calvin Klein and Levi’s.
