Shaftesbury Capital has revealed the opening of thirty7, a novel all-day dining venture, in the illustrious Covent Garden. This initiative by Hampton Lovell & Co, known for the highly praised seafood and oyster establishment, The Oystermen, signifies their third venture in the Covent Garden area, underscoring the commitment to nurturing relationships with current tenants and fostering original concepts.

The addition of thirty7 alongside Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton’s existing establishments, The Oystermen and Bedford Street Wines, introduces a 1,544 square foot dining area at 37 Bedford Street. This space, designed to accommodate 45 patrons, includes a basement cocktail bar, blending casual settings with culinary finesse. The restaurant embodies Hampton and Lovell’s commitment to traditional dining ethos and sustainability, emphasising the importance of origin and the selection of premium ingredients for an unparalleled dining experience.

thirty7 is poised to offer a brasserie-style menu influenced by culinary traditions from New York, Paris, and beyond. The menu will feature a variety of comforting and novel dishes such as Brixham Hake with chorizo fregula, Vadouvan Spiced Roast Cornish ‘Cull Yaw’ and Mutton with charred aubergine, yoghurt and mint, alongside traditional sides like Dauphinoise potatoes and Sautéed Greens. Highlighting their inventive approach, the thirty7 burger will be served with raclette and Dijon-mayonnaise, alongside a special single Oyster tribute to The Oystermen.

Head Chef Grant Clark, with his experience in New York’s urban culinary scene and British cooking, will lead the concept. The restaurant celebrates the finest ingredients, sourced from Hampton and Lovell’s extensive network of UK suppliers.

Collaborating with Peagreen Studio, the restaurant’s design draws inspiration from downtown Manhattan, featuring exposed brick walls, industrial lighting, burnt orange accents, and booth-style seating, along with a cosy basement bar.

Scheduled to open later this month, thirty7 joins a diverse array of premium dining options in Covent Garden, including the recent addition of NOTTO, as well as established favourites like Ave Mario, Balthazar, GAUCHO, Story Cellar, SUSHISAMBA, The Barbary, and The Ivy Market Grill.

thirty7 opens later this month

Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton expressed their enthusiasm for the launch: “We are hugely excited to be opening thirty7 later this month, introducing our innovative new concept to the destination. Covent Garden has been the ideal location for our other concepts to thrive, offering us the opportunity to share our love for food with a diverse range of visitors who are looking for unique culinary experiences. We feel confident thirty7 will be no exception, and that diners will come for the distinct Manhattan-style atmosphere and provenance-focused brasserie-style menu.”

This announcement follows a series of food and beverage openings in Covent Garden throughout 2023, including the authentic pasta concept NOTTO’s second location at 4 Henrietta Street. Joining the lineup are GAUCHO, an Argentinian-style steakhouse at 8-9 James Street, and Story Cellar, a Parisian rotisserie-inspired restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers at 17 Neal’s Yard.
