The Ruby Group has expanded its Italian portfolio with the launch of Ruby Giulia, a 164-room hotel located in the heart of Rome. Following the opening of Ruby Bea in Florence, this marks the group’s second property in the country. Set on Via Agostino Depretis near Piazza Venezia, the hotel brings the group’s Lean Luxury philosophy to a historic former government building, combining cinematic interior design with modern comfort and local flair.

Led by CEO and founder Michael Struck, the Ruby Group continues to expand its footprint across Europe by reimagining urban spaces. Ruby Giulia occupies a 5,300-square-metre structure that once served as an office for the Ministry of the Interior. The property now includes guest rooms across four categories, a 24/7 bar and café, inviting lounge areas, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Roman skyline.

The design theme, titled From Rome with Love, draws from the cinematic world of 1970s spy thrillers. The interiors feature deep emerald, burnt orange and red tones, enhanced by terrazzo finishes, brass details, and velvet textures. This aesthetic is informed by the work of Italian directors such as Fellini, with mirrors placed strategically throughout the public areas to create shifting perspectives – a nod to surveillance and secrecy. The design weaves the building’s governmental past with stylised storytelling, creating a filmic experience for guests.

Located in the Monti district, Ruby Giulia is positioned among cobbled streets, artisan studios and neighbourhood cafés. The hotel is within walking distance of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Termini Station, with Fiumicino Airport a 35-minute drive away. By embedding itself into the cultural fabric of Monti, the hotel aims to serve as a gathering point for both visitors and locals, whether over an espresso in the café or a drink on the rooftop terrace.

Rooms are divided into four categories – Cosy, Lovely, Wow and Loft – ranging in size from 17 to 31 square metres. All rooms include signature features such as large beds, rainfall showers, blackout curtains, and ambient lighting designed to transition with the time of day. Rates start from €170 per night for single occupancy, excluding breakfast.

This latest opening continues Ruby’s approach of combining affordability with high-end design and comfort, positioned in vibrant urban settings. With Ruby Giulia now open, the brand deepens its presence in Italy while reinforcing its identity as a character-rich, culture-connected hotel group.
