Opening in February 2024, Oxygen York is the first site designed under the brand’s new Activeplay concept and represents a £2.3m investment.  Set over a ground floor and mezzanine, Oxygen  York will embody the brand’s mission to revolutionise the active play world on every level.  The park will focus on energising customers’ minds, bodies and souls through active play, with parkour bounce zones, inflatable obstacle courses, various climbing challenges, party rooms, and a dedicated sensory baby and toddler park.  Parents and families will benefit from a new quiet lounge and best-in-class F&B offer, a crucial element to delivering the unique Oxygen Activeplay customer experience.

Oxygen Activeplay is also investing in enhanced team training to provide an exemplary experience for all visitors, something that has long been a focus for the brand, and the latest check-in and space management technology to both ease the experience for visitors and free-up time for Oxygen Activeplay’s team to interact with customers.

York forms part of a £10m investment programme focusing on the physical parks, the team, technology and infrastructure implemented over the last two years to support the brand’s continued national growth.  Leisure leasing agency, Stärka, has been instructed to secure more new locations around the country as Oxygen Activeplay looks to roll out the concept.

Stephen Wilson, Managing Director at Oxygen Activeplay, said: “Oxygen Activeplay is the  next generation concept set to pioneer indoor leisure  in the UK.  The size and location of the space, combined with the scale of York’s catchment, have provided us with the opportunity to really stretch our concept, introducing new elements and other enhancements that will create a unique experience in the sector and serve as our flagship.  We see this as the beginning of an exciting next chapter for the brand and are now focused on working with other leading landlords to secure more brand-new sites as we rollout Oxygen Activeplay in other key locations around the UK.”

Oxygen Activeplay’s £10m investment to date includes the redesigned Oxygen Croydon, which re-opened in April this year following a £1.2m refurbishment.  It joined other refurbished parks including  Acton, Wilmslow and Rayleigh, which together have received over 5m of investment.   Oxygen Activeplay’s number one priority is the successful delivery of its customer proposition and those sites which have undergone investment are performing in excess of 20% up on the prior year’s revenue.

Stärka acted on behalf of Oxygen.  CSP Rental represented the landlord Clifton Moor Retail III Ltd.
