The Reserve at Chester Zoo has completed its first full month of operation with strong results, hosting 732 stays and welcoming 2,361 guests since opening on 18 August. The newly launched collection of 51 luxury lodges has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most distinctive staycation destinations.
Since 14 August, the site has also received more than 500 new reservations, totalling 714 additional future nights booked at The Reserve. The development combines luxury hospitality with a commitment to conservation, as all profits directly support Chester Zoo and its global wildlife projects.

Adriaan Erasmus, General Manager at The Reserve at Chester Zoo, said, “We’re proud to say that our first month has been a resounding success. The whole team has worked incredibly hard to make this happen, from the construction crew who brought our low-carbon vision to life, to all the hospitality staff who have delivered a dream stay for our guests.
“The popularity of our safari-style lodges proves the UK has a real appetite for staycations with purpose. This is the start of a fantastic era of conservation and care for The Reserve at Chester Zoo. With the continuing trend for short luxury staycations of just one or two nights, our offering allows people to enjoy a quick, luxury getaway close to home.
“The team and I are excited to welcome more guests and help create amazing memories as we continue through 2025 and beyond.”

Among its range of packages, the Savannah Adventurer has proved the most in demand, while the exclusive Savannah VIP package, available only with the two Giraffe Lodges, is now fully booked until 2026. The high-end lodges overlook the zoo’s savannah-inspired habitat and feature large furnished balconies with exterior baths and private gardens.

Each VIP stay includes a selection of bespoke experiences, such as the Heart of Africa Tour, an after-hours guided visit using night-vision and infra-red equipment, and the Giraffe Keeper Kitchen Tour, where guests assist with meal preparation and enrichment activities. Guests can also join the Giraffe Wake-Up, helping keepers start the day’s care routine, and take part in the Conservation-In-Action experience for a behind-the-scenes look at active research and breeding projects.
Prices vary by package. The Savannah Explorer starts from £438.50 per night for two adults, including two-day zoo entry and morning Heart of Africa access. The Savannah Adventurer, from £889 per night, adds an out-of-hours ranger-led animal encounter and dining in the Amboseli Restaurant. The Savannah VIP package, from £1,411.63 for two nights, includes additional conservation experiences and exclusive access to the Giraffe Lodges.

With sustainability and education at its heart, The Reserve at Chester Zoo offers guests a unique opportunity to enjoy luxury stays that directly contribute to wildlife protection both in the UK and around the world.
