Goodluck Hope, the industrially inspired island neighbourhood, has welcomed a new resident. Layers, a destination bakery, has officially opened its waterfront store and café, enriching the area’s culinary landscape. Operating from Tuesday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm, Layers promises an array of delectable offerings, from freshly baked sourdough and exquisite coffees to grab-and-go breakfasts and a seasonal all-day brunch menu.

Beyond serving up mouth-watering fare, Layers aims to engage the local community with a dynamic schedule of events and workshops. From Viennoiserie pastry classes for adults to cookie-making workshops for children, the bakery seeks to educate and entertain. Founded by Chelsea, Giulia, and Faye, Layers is a testament to creativity and fun, grounded in years of industry experience across hospitality, retail, and food. The store’s ethos centres on culture, authenticity, and a family-friendly atmosphere, where even pets are welcome.

Goodluck Hope, where Layers has made its home, is a riverside development boasting 841 new homes, creative hubs, and independent businesses. The area is celebrated for its maritime heritage and tranquility, despite its proximity to Canary Wharf and London City Airport. This blend of seclusion and accessibility makes it a prime location for new ventures like Layers.

Faye Weatherburn, co-founder of Layers, shared her initial attraction to the location: “I fell in love with this location from the very first time we came to visit, back in May 2022. There was still construction taking place and yet, we went in and looked at each other and said, ‘Yes, I think this is it.’ There is something about the view of the O2, being so close to the water, and the history of the location that just makes it all magical. We look forward to opening and serving the new community at Goodluck Hope.”

James Boyce, Associate Regional Sales Director at Ballymore, expressed his enthusiasm for the bakery’s opening: “We are delighted to welcome Layers Bakery to our island community. The island is already home to a number of thriving independent businesses, and the arrival of an exciting new destination bakery will bring the best food, drink and atmosphere right to the doorstep of our residents, offering ultimate convenience. Layers joins the neighbouring cocktail bars, coffee shops, galleries and culture hubs just a few minutes away on City Island, completing our island story.”

Located at Orchard Dry Dock, Orchard Place, London E14 0JW, Layers joins the recently opened ethical grocer Taylor’s of Goodluck Hope, further enhancing the neighbourhood’s appeal.
