Tortello has officially opened in London, introducing a new Italian restaurant concept within Royal Lancaster London overlooking the Italian Gardens of Hyde Park. Conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Italian trattoria, Tortello focuses on handmade pasta, regional cooking and craft-led design.

The restaurant can be accessed either through the hotel or via its own private street entrance, giving it the character of a neighbourhood restaurant while remaining closely connected to the wider hotel environment.

A Craft-Led Kitchen

At the heart of Tortello is a kitchen dedicated to the daily production of handmade pasta, using Italian flours from specialist mills, golden-yolk eggs produced exclusively for the restaurant, and produce sourced from artisan farmers. The menu draws on regional Italian traditions, balancing familiarity with a refined, modern approach.

Dishes include Tortello di Zucca made with Delica pumpkin matured specifically for Tortello by a farmer in Veneto, served with brown butter, Modena balsamic and toasted Piedmont hazelnuts. Other highlights include beef shin and Chianti tortello filled with eight-hour slow-cooked ragù, seafood calamarata with langoustine tomato sauce and British shellfish, and rustic pici with Dorset mussels and cavolo nero purée.

The menu is complemented by antipasti, seasonal secondi and traditional desserts, including tiramisu. The drinks list features Italian wines, spritzes, digestivi and classic espresso.

Interior Design And Setting

The interiors reflect the restaurant’s emphasis on craftsmanship and warmth, with tiled walls, olive trees and herbs lining the space, and a hand-painted vineyard mural created by a London-based artist. A pistachio-green vintage Fiat 500 marks the entrance.

The 80-cover dining room opens onto a terrace overlooking Hyde Park, offering an outdoor setting that reinforces the restaurant’s connection to its surroundings.

Leadership And Identity

Led by Chef Giuseppe, Tortello places pasta-making at the core of its culinary identity. The atmosphere is relaxed and confident, rooted in tradition while presenting a contemporary expression of Italian dining in London.
