Accor has confirmed plans to open a new luxury property, Sofitel Rishikesh Narendra Nagar, in 2030, marking the introduction of the Sofitel brand to the Uttarakhand region of northern India. The resort will be situated in Narendra Nagar, a town located on the edge of the Himalayas and overlooking the River Ganges.
Maud Bailly, CEO Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, said:
“We are delighted to introduce Sofitel in Rishikesh, a destination celebrated globally as the Yoga Capital of the World. Sofitel Rishikesh Narendra Nagar will embody harmony and rejuvenation, blending the soulful energy of the Himalayas with Sofitel’s timeless French elegance. This extraordinary resort reflects our vision of crafting immersive luxury experiences that connect guests with culture, nature, and wellness.”

Set across eight acres, the resort will feature 160 rooms and suites designed to merge modern aesthetics with local craftsmanship. Guests will be able to take in panoramic views of the Ganges valley while enjoying landscaped gardens and the sounds of nature.
The resort is expected to offer five dining options. These will include a signature restaurant, rooftop venue, poolside bar and grill, and a lobby lounge. Each concept aims to balance French culinary techniques with Indian influences.
One of the main features of the resort will be its wellness offering. Guests will have access to a Sofitel Spa spanning 623 square metres, six treatment rooms, dual swimming pools, a fitness centre, and tailored yoga and meditation sessions based on local practices. Over 2,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor event space will also be available, including lawns, ballrooms and a bridal suite, catering to weddings and wellness retreats.
Accor is working with Dangayach Group to deliver the project. Dangayach Group has an existing portfolio including collaborations with Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, and ITC. This development strengthens their position in India’s premium hospitality segment.
Ranju Alex, CEO Accor India & South Asia, stated:
“Sofitel Rishikesh Narendra Nagar represents a defining addition to Accor’s luxury portfolio in India. It combines brand elegance with the deep spiritual and natural essence of Rishikesh, offering guests an unparalleled destination for renewal and celebration. This project also marks another milestone in our long-standing relationship with a visionary ownership group deeply rooted in India’s hospitality landscape.”
The resort will follow Accor’s Planet 21 and Gaia 2.0 frameworks, focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency. The property will be built from the ground up, with design elements reflecting mountain architecture and interiors crafted by local artisans.
Mr. Atul Dangayach, Managing Director of Dangayach Group, added:
“We are proud to partner with Accor to bring the Sofitel brand to Rishikesh, a region that embodies peace, spirituality, and natural beauty. Sofitel Rishikesh Narendra Nagar will redefine luxury wellness hospitality in India, offering guests a transformative experience that bridges local authenticity with world-class sophistication.”
Once operational, the resort will contribute to the development of Rishikesh as a global hub for wellness tourism, offering an experience shaped by nature, heritage, and global standards of luxury.
