Costa Coffee has reopened its store at 111 Great Portland Street, London, following a comprehensive redesign aimed at elevating the coffee experience across every type of customer visit.
The newly modernised outlet features a contemporary open layout and a bold interior rework that blends comfort, warmth, and style. A central element of the redesign is a new open-plan counter that places Costa Coffee’s baristas at the heart of the experience, offering customers a direct view of their handcrafted drinks being prepared with care. To accommodate customers in a hurry, sleek self-service digital kiosks have also been installed, streamlining the ordering process.

The atmosphere inside the store has been designed to evoke calm and welcome. A refined colour palette pairs with soft ambient lighting to create a space that encourages relaxation and lingered visits. Abstract artwork and wall installations inspired by coffee landscapes add artistic character to the environment, contributing to the store’s overall inviting aesthetic.

Customers will find a range of thoughtfully arranged seating options suited to varying needs. High stools provide options for short visits, while cosy booths and lounge chairs cater to those looking to settle in for longer stays. The updated design supports the idea that whether customers are grabbing a coffee on the go or spending a quiet afternoon inside, the environment should enhance the moment.

The refurbishment underscores the company’s commitment to combining its longstanding craft with the expectations of a modern retail experience. At the centre of this commitment is continued investment in the brand’s baristas, whose passion and attention to detail remain key to every customer interaction. The signature Mocha Italia blend continues to be a staple in every cup served, maintaining the consistency and flavour profile that customers associate with the brand.

Nick Ridley, Property & Store Development Director for UK & Ireland at Costa Coffee, commented:
“We’re thrilled to welcome customers back to our newly refreshed Great Portland Street store. This transformation reflects our ongoing investment in Central London and our ambition to create modern and inviting spaces, where enjoying a coffee becomes a meaningful part of the day. Whether you’re grabbing a Flat White to-go or settling in for the afternoon, we’re proud to offer an experience that’s as premium as the coffee we serve.”

The refurbishment is part of a broader series of investments being made across Costa Coffee’s central London estate. Other recently updated stores include locations on New Oxford Street, Tooley Street, Argyll Street and Wigmore Street. These upgrades signal the company’s continued efforts to adapt its physical stores to better meet the evolving preferences of its customer base.
