Red Engine, the operator behind the competitive socialising concepts Flight Club and Electric Shuffle, is celebrating the opening of its latest venue: Flight Club Newcastle. Located in Eldon Square, the new site officially opens tomorrow and becomes the 29th Flight Club location worldwide since the original launched in Shoreditch ten years ago.
The 400-capacity venue features 14 semi-private oches and two bars set within an interior that blends fairground charm with Victorian pub design. The site, created by Red Engine’s award-winning in-house team, includes subtle nods to Newcastle’s shipbuilding and industrial past, anchoring the brand’s distinctive atmosphere to the local heritage.

The Newcastle opening comes at a time of significant momentum for Red Engine. Last month, the business secured a £10M lending facility to further fund its growth—adding to £60M raised last year. The total £70M investment is aimed at accelerating the rollout of new locations across the UK and internationally, spanning both Flight Club and Electric Shuffle formats.

CEO and co-founder Steve Moore said:
“We’ve had Newcastle firmly in our sights as a prime location for Flight Club for some time. The renowned social energy of Newcastle’s locals and the city’s vibrant nightlife perfectly align with our brand proposition. We believe it’s the perfect fit for Flight Club, and we can’t wait to open our doors to welcome the community. We’re confident that our newest venue will be a well-loved addition to Newcastle’s leisure landscape.”

From Eldon Square’s perspective, Kitty Vaughan, Head of UK Leisure and F&B at Pradera Lateral – the centre’s asset manager – commented:
“The opening of Flight Club at Eldon Square marks an exciting milestone for the centre, as we strengthen our vibrant leisure offering. It is a true reflection of our future-facing leasing strategy and is a hugely exciting moment in Eldon Square’s ongoing evolution. We look forward to seeing how this experience-led brand will attract diverse audiences from across the city.”
Flight Club Newcastle aims to bring the city its signature mix of interactive darts, premium cocktails, and shared small plates. The venue’s opening has been strategically timed ahead of the festive season, appealing to both corporate bookings and social gatherings during the Christmas period.

The Newcastle location is the seventh opening of 2025 for Red Engine and its global partners. This year’s rollout also includes new Flight Club venues in Washington, St Louis, Dublin, and Philadelphia, alongside Electric Shuffle sites in Chicago and London King’s Cross. The combined total now stands at 38 venues worldwide, with one more opening—Flight Club Cincinnati—scheduled before year-end, bringing the tally to 39 by the close of 2025.
