Döner Shack, the German street-food brand, opened the doors to its flagship site in Manchester on 22nd November for its soft launch, giving 550 customers a taste of its authentic Berlin-inspired kebabs. To celebrate the grand opening on 25th November, the restaurant also served up 379 free kebabs over a four-hour period to give the locals the chance to taste the exceptional quality for themselves.

The new site at Halle Place, the food quarter in the Arndale, will become the northern flagship for Döner Shack. With a capacity for 70 diners plus many more using the delivery and takeaway services, the restaurant is already proving to be a recipe for success in Manchester having seen a footfall of 2,600 over its first weekend.

“We’ve been completely taken back by the initial support we’ve received since opening the restaurant. Our first week has been a huge success, with our food and drink blowing our customers away. We’re thrilled to be challenging the status quo of kebabs in the UK with our lean high-quality meats, fresh salad and delicious signature sauces,” said Suj Legha, multi-unit franchise investor with Döner Shack.

“With Christmas just over a month away, our restaurant is going to be the perfect place for people to come and eat whilst doing their shopping or gather with friends for a fun evening out. We’ve enjoyed tremendous success in our venue in Leeds Trinity Kitchen and intend to replicate the same experience in the Arndale by bringing a new generation of street food at a truly striking location. Early next year, we will be opening a further three sites in Manchester, Leicester and Glasgow,” said Sanjeev Sanghera, co-founder and managing director of Döner Shack.

Sophie Farley, a customer who visited the restaurant at the weekend commented: “This is the best kebab I have ever had. The meat was really tasty, delicious fresh salad, amazing sauces, and brilliant bread. I’m definitely coming back to Döner Shack with all my friends next time.”

Alongside döner, chicken shawarma and freshly baked artisan bread, Döner Shack also serves currywurst, halloumi, falafel and vegan schnitzel, with a selection of milkshakes, German soft drinks and beers on the menu.
