Monica Berg and Alex Kratena, the award-winning mixologists behind Tayēr + Elementary in London, are set to launch their first project in Spain this June with the opening of Kyara, a post-modern cocktail bar located at the new SLS Barcelona.

Kyara blends the traditions of classic cocktail-making with an experimental, sensory-forward approach inspired by the world of fragrance. Each drink is crafted to reflect the complexity of perfume accords, with layered depth and aromatic nuance guiding the cocktail journey.

The bar’s interior combines minimalist architecture with tactile contrasts. A muted palette of teal, grey, and black is punctuated by amber glass details and highlights in blue and saffron. At the centre of the space is the Compounding Room, an open studio modelled after the duo’s London lab, where mixologists experiment with distillates, extracts, and accords in full view of guests. Among the standout features is the bespoke Martini Diagnosis – a guided, multi-sensory experience tailored to individual preferences and developed as a signature element of the bar’s offering.

Kyara will open within SLS Barcelona, a newly launched luxury hotel in the city’s Port Forum district. The waterfront property includes 471 rooms, a rooftop lounge, and multiple dining concepts, marking the brand’s debut in Spain. With its bold design and location along Barcelona’s eastern coastline, SLS Barcelona positions itself as a contemporary hub for upscale hospitality and culinary innovation.

The arrival of Kyara reflects Berg and Kratena’s continued exploration of cross-sensory drinks experiences, following the success of Tayēr + Elementary, currently ranked No. 4 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024. The Barcelona launch marks their first foray into the Spanish market and builds on their international recognition for redefining modern mixology.
