The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona, has completed a multi-phase renovation led by Jill Cole of Cole Martinez Curtis and Associates, marking the firm’s second collaboration with real estate investment firm Southwest Value Partners.
The project focused on refreshing guestrooms, suites, and public spaces while maintaining cost efficiency and a deep connection to the resort’s desert surroundings.
A Dramatic Transformation Of Public Spaces
The resort’s public areas saw the most extensive updates, beginning with a redesigned lobby featuring custom chandeliers, contemporary furnishings, and reconfigured seating arrangements to create a more welcoming atmosphere. The Grab & Go Café was relocated and integrated with the retail space, improving convenience for guests.
One of the most striking changes is the repositioning of the Bar and Lounge, now offering panoramic mountain views and a 16-foot-wide screen with a state-of-the-art sound system. Enhancements to the dining experience include expanded seating, a semi-private dining area enclosed by custom laser-cut walls and ceilings, and a lower-level dining space that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor environments. A bar table, anchored by a sculptural focal tree, serves as a centrepiece for the revitalised restaurant area.
Guestroom And Suite Enhancements
Guestrooms and suites were refreshed with a sophisticated colour palette of cool earth tones, blues, and greens, drawing inspiration from the surrounding Sonoran Desert. While key architectural elements and case goods were retained, the interiors were modernised with new furniture, fixtures, and equipment, alongside custom Axminster carpets and blue-toned metallic cork headboard wall coverings.
Suites received additional upgrades, incorporating fireplaces, indoor and outdoor catering bars, and custom embossed leather bed walls, particularly in the San Xavier Suite. These refinements enhance both comfort and luxury while preserving the resort’s distinctive aesthetic.
A Renewed Resort Experience
The renovation of The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa reflects a balance of modernisation and a strong sense of place, reinforcing the property’s reputation as a premier destination in Tucson. With updated public spaces, enhanced dining experiences, and refreshed accommodations, the resort is poised to offer guests a refined yet immersive desert retreat.
