Star Pins is set to open a comprehensive entertainment destination on School Lane in Liverpool from 15 January, combining a range of activities, food and drink into a day‑to‑night experience. The venue will feature ten‑pin bowling, ice‑free curling, tech darts, karaoke, shuffleboard and a new arcade, all integrated with a casual dining and bar offering.

The format aims to serve a wide audience, positioning itself as an inclusive spot for families and friends during daytime hours and transitioning into a lively music bar after 6 pm. The venue’s programming will shift in the evenings to high‑energy music, playing mainstream hits that organisers say will cater to date nights, celebrations and social gatherings.

The School Lane location is currently operating as Roxy Lanes, and will become the second Liverpool venue for Star Pins, both of which are operated by Professionals at Play. The transformation follows a successful opening in Coventry, where the concept attracted significant footfall and generated positive consumer feedback.

By day, visitors to the venue can expect a more relaxed environment where families and groups can enjoy a variety of games alongside food and soft drinks. In contrast, the evening experience will focus on music, socialising and drinks from a fully stocked bar.

The food menu has been designed to complement the entertainment options, with choices including loaded pizzas, crispy chicken, nachos, fries and sweet treats. The bar offering will comprise cocktails, mocktails, draught beers, ciders, wines, slushies and soft drinks to cater to a range of preferences throughout the day and into the night.

The initiative forms part of a broader strategy by Professionals at Play to diversify its entertainment portfolio and extend its appeal. Commenting on the development, Matt Jones, CEO of Professionals at Play, said: “We’re thrilled to bring our newest concept to Liverpool. Star Pins is designed to be more inclusive for families during the day, while still delivering that party vibe in the evening. It’s a venue that truly offers something for everyone.”

Mr Jones’s remarks underline the dual‑purpose nature of the venue, which the company describes as bridging the gap between daytime family entertainment and evening social venues. The reimagined space is intended to complement existing nightlife options in Liverpool while also offering a new daytime destination.

The remaining Roxy Lanes venues in Liverpool will continue to operate as adult‑oriented entertainment spaces, with a focus on customers aged 18 and over. Star Pins, in contrast, positions itself as suitable for all ages before transitioning to an adult‑focused scene in the evenings.

The launch in Liverpool reflects a growing trend in the leisure sector towards multi‑use spaces that combine gaming, dining and nightlife in a single location. Operators like Professionals at Play argue that such formats can attract broader demographics and extend dwell time, with the aim of driving repeat visits.

Star Pins’s arrival on School Lane adds another dimension to Liverpool’s entertainment landscape, which already includes a mix of bars, restaurants and leisure venues. By offering an all‑day programme of activities and social experiences, the company aims to position the venue as both a local favourite and a destination for visitors to the city.
