London Epicerie, a new food destination from Jared Wybrow, founder of London Cheesemongers, and Raissa van Dijk, has opened on Ebury Street in Belgravia.

The store brings together seasonal produce, fresh bread, dairy, farmhouse cheese, charcuterie, wine and pantry essentials under one roof. Conceived around everyday food shopping rather than occasional luxury, London Epicerie combines the convenience of a weekly shop with the expertise, transparency and producer relationships associated with specialist food retail.

The opening follows more than a decade of work at London Cheesemongers, where Wybrow and van Dijk developed long-standing relationships with growers and producers. Their approach has been shaped by conversation, context and trust alongside the products themselves.

A Shop for Everyday Life

London Epicerie is based on the idea that specialist food and everyday groceries need not be treated as separate categories. Products for a weekly shop sit alongside wine, ingredients for dinner and items selected on the day, with the same approach to sourcing applied throughout.

The store has also been arranged to make information and guidance part of the shopping experience. Staff are available to explain how products are made and sourced, as well as to help customers choose ingredients for everyday meals.

Long-standing relationships with producers inform both the selection and presentation of products. A small group of specialists also supports different parts of the offer. Nutritional therapist Edmund Swinburn helps shape the store’s approach to nutrition and balance, while former Brat Head Sommelier Daniel Garcia Thomas oversees the wine programme, with an emphasis on growers and producers with a strong connection to place.

Producers and Provenance

Many of London Epicerie’s suppliers have worked with the founders through London Cheesemongers for a number of years.

The product selection brings together British and European producers, including Westcombe Dairy in Somerset, whose clothbound Cheddar reflects generations of cheesemaking expertise, alongside Alpine cheesemakers L’Etovas, producing raw milk cheeses in mountain chalets during the summer months.

The range also includes freshly baked bread from Alma Bakery, ancient-grain pasta from Noja Progetto Agricolo, early-harvest Tuscan olive oil from Piro, traditional balsamic vinegar from Bonini and cornichons from Maison Marc.

Charcuterie is sourced through long-term partner Ham & Cheese Co, whose network of small Italian producers has supplied London Cheesemongers for more than a decade.

The wider offer includes seasonal produce, small-batch dairy products from producers including Long Lane Dairy, freshly roasted coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters, prepared food and pantry staples.

Garcia Thomas’s wine selection spans established and emerging regions and focuses on growers with a clear connection to their land, with wines selected to sit alongside the wider food offer.

The Space

The London Epicerie interior was designed by Deidra Hodgson, with the design taking its cues from traditional European food stores.

Natural light oak and warm stone finishes form the principal material palette. A subtle architectural grid is expressed through shelving and display structures, creating rhythm and order across the store while helping to define customer movement.

Crates, shelving and preparation areas are integrated into the interior architecture rather than treated as applied decorative elements. The approach gives the store a functional, restrained character, with the layout intended to support a slower and more considered shopping experience.

London Epicerie is now open daily from 8am to 8pm at 65–69 Ebury Street, Belgravia.
