Ikos Resorts has opened Ikos Kissamos, its first property on Crete, on the beachfront of Kissamos Bay near Chania.

Located along 600 metres of coastline in western Crete, the resort introduces the luxury all-inclusive operator to a part of the island associated with beaches, coastal landscapes and cultural destinations including Chania and Kissamos. The opening also extends the brand’s presence in Greece and Spain.

Ikos Kissamos is set across more than 53 acres of landscaped gardens and coastal terrain. The resort is arranged across four areas: Main Village, River Village, Dunes Village and Sea Village, with the latter two forming part of its Deluxe Collection accommodation offer.

The architectural and interior approach draws on Cretan references through the use of wood, stone and woven materials, with low-rise buildings positioned within the surrounding landscape. The grounds include eight garden landscapes, educational nature touchpoints and initiatives focused on dune preservation.

Dining and Destination Experiences

The resort’s food and beverage offer comprises six à la carte restaurants and The Market, with menus curated by Michelin-starred chefs. Among the concepts introduced at the property is Kriti, a restaurant developed specifically for Ikos Kissamos and focused on Cretan recipes and locally sourced ingredients.

According to Ikos Resorts, more than 70% of the ingredients used at the resort are sourced from producers across Crete, with the supply network extending to regional food suppliers and specialist craftspeople.

The resort also incorporates the operator’s Local Discovery programme, which encourages guests to explore the surrounding region. The offer includes access to a MINI Countryman for local trips, cultural experiences and the Dine Out programme at selected local restaurants.

Nearby destinations include Gramvousa, which can be reached by boat from the resort, as well as Balos Lagoon and Falassarna Beach. Both Balos Lagoon and Falassarna Beach were included among the world’s top 10 beaches in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Beaches Awards 2026.

Further destinations accessible from the resort include Chania’s Old Town, the port of Kissamos, the Archaeological Museum of Kissamos, Elafonissi, Kedrodasos, Samaria Gorge and Preveli.

Environmental Commitments

Ikos Kissamos has been developed in line with the operator’s Ikos Green sustainability framework and is pursuing LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction.

The wider Ikos Green programme includes a net-zero carbon emissions plan for 2030, the elimination of single-use plastics, zero waste to landfill, 100% water reuse and organic waste composting. At Ikos Kissamos, the resort says its environmental measures also include landscaped areas, coastal habitat protection and collaboration with local suppliers.
