18th Floor Rooftop Restaurant to Open at The Gantry, Stratford

18th Floor, a new rooftop restaurant and bar eighteen storeys above Stratford, opens at The Gantry hotel on Thursday 29 October. Created by East Coast Concepts and D3 Collective, it pairs a modern British menu centred on meat and seafood with an international wine list and late-night music.

The venue has open-air terraces, private dining rooms and views across East London, and is set up for everything from after-work drinks and long weekend lunches to celebrations.

Meat and seafood are sourced from British suppliers. Whole grilled Scottish lobster appears alongside steaks ranging from fillet to New York strip, together with larger cuts designed to be shared at the table, including a 900g tomahawk, a 900g porterhouse and a 650g côte de boeuf.

The wine list has been curated by Giuseppe Lacona, head sommelier at D3 Collective, whose career includes Coq d’Argent and Petrus by Gordon Ramsay. It leans towards bold reds, among them Argentine Malbecs, Tuscan reds, and Bordeaux and Napa Valley Cabernets, with an extensive Champagne selection alongside.

Behind the bar, D3’s head of bars, Davide Mangiamele, whose experience includes Amazonico and Gattopardo in Dubai and London, has created a list that places reworked classics beside 18th Floor signatures. These include a brown butter-washed bourbon with roasted pear, a tequila served with a slow chilli heat and a range of tropical fruit blends.

Every Friday and Saturday, DJs will play R&B, soul and house, accompanied by live saxophone on the terraces. A wider programme of live music is due to be announced later this year.

East Coast Concepts, which dates back to 2012, operates the Victors and Neighbourhood restaurant and bar brands across six UK locations, with a team of 250. It was acquired in August 2020 by an independent investment group based in the North East and led by Naveen Handa.

D3 Collective was founded by Des Gunewardena and develops restaurant and bar concepts with investors, chefs and restaurateurs. Its portfolio includes Engel and Jang at the Grade I-listed Royal Exchange in the City of London, and Pillar Hall, a 30,000 sq ft Grade II*-listed space at Olympia in West London. Pillar Hall comprises Idalia, a 300-cover restaurant and bar; Pepperbird, a speakeasy; and Upstairs at Pillar Hall, a 550-capacity events venue opening in spring 2027.

18th Floor will hold a soft launch from 24 to 28 October before opening officially for dinner on 29 October. It will open from 3pm to midnight Monday to Friday, from noon to midnight on Saturday and from noon to 10pm on Sunday.

The operators describe 18th Floor as the first chapter for The Gantry‘s rooftop, with further plans to be revealed in 2027.
