Hellmann’s has commissioned Irish luxury accessories brand Maya Grisham to turn its mayonnaise jar into a one-off, hand-crystallised handbag.

The piece reimagines the familiar jar as a fashion accessory, recreating its blue lid and Real Mayonnaise label in crystals and combining the food brand’s identity with Maya Grisham’s signature crystal craftsmanship.

Founded by designer and creative director Kimberly Tino, Maya Grisham makes handcrafted, crystal-embellished handbags and accessories based on familiar cultural references, in pieces that sit between fashion, art and everyday objects. Its collections include crystal versions of a pint of beer, Kerrygold butter and Quality Street chocolates, and it has made bespoke pieces for brands including Jameson, Pepsi, Johnnie Walker and Keelings.

For Hellmann’s, the commission presents a familiar product to new audiences through fashion and craftsmanship, an approach other food brands have also taken, including Greggs and Just Eat’s designer bag giveaway for London Fashion Week.

The Hellmann’s bag joins Maya Grisham’s growing portfolio of crystal handbags and brand commissions.
