Hospitality industry stalwart, Igor Buercher, is set to bring a new sparkle to the Budapest luxury hotel scene this summer. Fluent in German and English, the Swiss-born General Manager of W Budapest, has been meticulously preparing for the much-anticipated opening of the hotel located on the historic Andrassy Avenue.
Buercher’s international journey in the world of luxury hospitality spans more than 25 years, with his expertise honed in a myriad of general manager and leadership roles. Having lived in various global hotspots including a dozen years in the USA, and with stints in New York, London, Greece, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Stockholm, and most recently at two W Hotels in Ibiza and Amsterdam, Igor brings a diverse and rich experience to the table.

W Budapest is strategically situated on Andrassy Avenue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, directly opposite the State Opera House on the city’s premier shopping boulevard. The historic Drechsler Palace, once home to the Institute of Ballet, will soon re-open its doors as the W Budapest, bringing a bold, new interpretation of luxury to the local scene.
The hotel’s exquisite design, eclectic gastronomy, and vibrant social ethos embody the cosmopolitan spirit of the capital. It features 151 chic guestrooms and suites, including an opulent Extreme WOW (Presidential) Suite. Its restaurant, destination bar, and the W Lounge are expected to become popular local hangouts and traveler stops.
W Budapest also presents a variety of event spaces, including a Great Room for grand celebrations. The hotel’s wellness offerings feature an Away® Spa, a FIT® fitness centre, and a WET® pool.
