Adelphi Art House will open on 23 November at 34 John Adam Street, bringing a new interdisciplinary arts, hospitality and events venue to the Strand area of central London. It combines a Victorian gallery on the ground floor with a vaulted, fresco-painted events space below, creating two distinct settings for private and corporate occasions.
The 2,000 sq ft ground-floor gallery has a fully equipped bar and a dedicated catering preparation room, with capacity for up to 120 guests. The space can be configured for corporate drinks and receptions, product and brand launches, networking events, birthday parties, private celebrations and art-related events, and its bar serves a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks alongside light bites.

Beneath it, the 3,500 sq ft Undercroft has original vaulted ceilings decorated with painted frescoes, an expansive dancefloor and a fully equipped bar, with capacity for up to 240 guests. Designed for larger events, it suits corporate events, Christmas parties, product launches, fashion events and live music, and the two spaces can be combined for occasions of up to 320 guests.
Alongside private hire, the venue will be open seven days a week as a no-membership space for coffee, working and socialising, with a bar open to the public. Its cultural programme includes rotating exhibitions, previews, private views, art salons and daytime events such as life drawing and talks, and the painter Philip Firsov is its resident artist.

The venue sits in the historic Adelphi district, created by the brothers John and Robert Adam in the late 18th century, close to the Strand, Charing Cross and Covent Garden, in an area long associated with London’s cultural, theatrical, commercial and hospitality industries.

It has also been used as a filming location for the upcoming Channel 4 series Handcuffed, with Lady Victoria Hervey and Georgia Harrison filmed at the venue.
“The Adelphi Art House was never meant to be just a venue for hire. Our guests get two spaces with real character, a Victorian gallery and a vaulted Undercroft, but they also get a place that’s alive every day, with art, a bar and a community around it. That gives corporate and private events an atmosphere you can’t build from scratch, and the spaces are flexible enough to suit everything from an intimate celebration to a larger corporate party.”
