Grosvenor has announced the opening of the independent School Lane Hotel at Liverpool ONE, just in time for the highly anticipated Eurovision Song Contest next week. Operated by the multi-award-winning Hope Street Hotel, the 17,500 sq ft space within the historic 1850s Russell Building has been carefully restored to accommodate 55 bedrooms across five floors.

Situated on the corner of School Lane and Peter’s Lane, the School Lane Hotel is at the heart of Liverpool ONE, offering guests easy access to the city and transport links. The hotel’s design preserves the historic architectural features of the Russell Building while reflecting the city chic style of its sister establishment, Hope Street Hotel. All 55 rooms showcase original sash windows and three-metre-high ceilings, and are furnished with bespoke oak furniture, super-king beds, rain-dance showers, and Temple Spa products. The elegant reception and lounge area features an impressive glass installation by renowned glass artist Katerina Christou.

The hotel’s extensive refurbishment and timely opening ahead of Eurovision aim to capitalise on the expected influx of national and international visitors to the city.

Rob Deacon, Senior Asset Manager at Grosvenor, said, “We are hugely excited to see School Lane Hotel open at Liverpool ONE, just in time for Eurovision with footfall set to increase at the destination by 25% during this time. The city is going from strength to strength in its position as a leading tourist hotspot, and curating a well-rounded, varied tenant mix is crucial. The arrival of high-quality, independent hospitality operators like School Lane Hotel only adds to this, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in this prime city centre location.”

Dave Brewitt, Founder, Owner, and CEO of Hope Street Hotel, commented, “We are very excited to be opening School Lane Hotel at Liverpool ONE in time for Eurovision. We have created something really special and I am incredibly proud of the teams at Carpenter Build and Hope Street Hotel for delivering such an amazing project in such an incredibly short space of time. We thoroughly look forward to working with our new School Lane Hotel team and welcoming guests for Eurovision and for many years to come.”

The opening of School Lane Hotel at Liverpool ONE coincides with the launch of the official Eurovision Song Contest pop-up store, which opened on May 1 and offers a full range of Eurovision merchandise. Liverpool ONE visitors can also enjoy a diverse programme of music, art, and community-led events, including staged performances showcasing emerging local talent working with community organisations, during the competition.
