Shaftesbury has announced the Carnaby Christmas installation 2020 which will be illuminated from Monday 2nd November 2020. This year the installation is an exciting collaboration with the Choose Love charity, who will also open a pop up shop, Choose Love, for the festive period to raise vital funds, at 24 Carnaby Street. There won’t be a countdown switch-on moment, however, the renowned Carnaby Christmas lights are sure to bring joy to many people.
The theme of this year’s installation is Choose Love in Carnaby. Visitors will be immersed in pink neon light from a series of lightboxes running the length of Carnaby Street. Each lightbox has a positive word with the hope that at least one will make you smile. The installation is to inspire a wish to share a powerful message of love and unity. The words pay tribute to the strength and courage of Londoners and the whole of the UK, and are an encouragement to continue with hope and to be kind to each other. Other words of empowerment include believe, heal, brave, dream, faith, together and family.
Dermot O’Leary, Choose Love ambassador says “Each year the Choose Love shop comes to Soho giving shoppers the chance to do something beautiful for their fellow humans as winter approaches, buying things like blankets, hot meals and kids coats for refugees and displaced people across the world. I’ve loved being a part of it every year. This year it will be magical to see Choose Love in lights on Carnaby street too. It’s been a tough year for so many people, so this message of solidarity, hope and connection is now needed more than ever before.”
