The Mercers’ Company has today announced that The Conduit, a community committed to social, environmental, and economic change, is to debut its first public-facing restaurant, Warehouse, on the 16th November, at 6 Langley Street, Covent Garden.
Opening within the recently launched Conduit members club in Covent Garden, but entirely open to the public, the 2,000 sq ft Warehouse restaurant will operate an 80-cover restaurant on its ground floor.  The menu, led by head chef Brendan Eades (ex-head chef at SILO), will focus on provenance and sustainability, working with carefully chosen suppliers from the UK who share the same approach and vision.
Warehouse will have a strong emphasis on using seasonal produce in the menu, with dishes including roasted pumpkin with crème fraiche and pumpkin seed dukkah and venison with smoked baby beetroot, salted liquorice and greens. The seasonal focus doesn’t stop with the food, the cocktail list, drawn up by renowned mixologist,Walter Pintus, will also include fresh seasonal ingredients.
The interior design of the restaurant is focused around two principles: supporting artisans from the Global South and “circularity” – utilising reclaimed and vintage materials. The Conduit collaborated with Cavendish on the design and worked closely with NGO’s, co-operatives and charities across the global south, South Africa and Swaziland to bring artisanal design elements into Warehouse. DĂ©cor features include lampshades, tapestries and baskets from Swaziland and ceramics and crockery from artisans in South Africa. In addition, the space features collaborations with celebrated mural artists Timna Woolard and Daryl McGregor to bring bold paint strokes of rich warm colours to the walls of the space complementing natural Yorkstone flooring and exposed ceilings. Steel framed partitions and glass separate the private dining room which seats 16- people on vintage copper-topped tables.
Paul van Zyl, Chief Creative Officer, The Conduit, commented on the opening:“We are delighted to announce that Warehouse at The Conduit has started taking bookings and will open to the public on the 16th November. With a focus on seasonality, bold flavours, and meticulously sourced sustainable ingredients, the restaurant will offer unique and memorable dining experiences. Warehouse also benefits from an incredible location here on the Mercers’ Estate in the heart of Covent Garden.”
Simon Taylor, Property Director at the Mercers’ Company, added: “Warehouse at The Conduit will add something special to the area and for all to have access to and enjoy. Its eclectic food and drink menu will certainly attract a lot of customers as we continue to see more people return to central London. The Conduit and Warehouse’s strong social and sustainability values also reflect those of the Mercers’ Company, making this a great collaboration.”
The opening follows the recent launch of the private members space at The Conduit in September and the opening of Italian gelato brand Badiani, located at 2 Mercer Walk
