Double Dutch, the producers of award-winning premium mixers and tonics, has announced the schedule for the first part of its Female Bartending Scholarship Programme.
The programme is entering its third year as part of Double Dutch’s ongoing mission to foster upcoming female talent in the hospitality industry. Applications for the programme have been extended and are now open until 17th May, with eight places available.
The scholarship is helping women to unlock new career opportunities, further their progression in the industry, expand their network, whilst expediting drinks knowledge and building confidence.
The scholarship will kick off at Club Soda in London, an alcohol-free tasting room and bar, with an introduction from founders Joyce & Raissa de Haas, a Flavour Dive and Ready, Steady, Cocktail challenge with Tristan Darby, and insight into the Mindful Drinking movement from Club Soda founder, Laura Willoughby, followed by a practical cocktail session with resident head bartender, Noah Villeneuve. Scholars will also hear from Paddy Howley the founder of So Let’s Talk, an organisation which is championing mental health through educational sessions for those in hospitality, and New World Trading’s Head of Bars, Kelly Harrison as part of a session on mental, physical and financial health.
The programme will also consist of 8 virtual sessions with the first being run by President of the UKBG – Claudia Carrozzi on crafting signature serves to make your mark on the industry; alongside a session from industry legend – Esther Medina-Cuesta, an experienced global bartender turned hospitality consultant on classic mixology skills.
The next live session will be hosted at 58 Gin Distillery, beginning with an opening session from Carmen O’Neal – 58 Gin distillery founder and TV personality – on building and running a craft distillery – with scholars participating in making their own gin. Additionally, Ex-Savoy and founder of Doctor Cocktail, Nicolas Medicamento, will host a session on Creativity in Mixology – helping scholars realise their potential, as well as discover the Science of Flavour with Double Dutch’s brand ambassador, Tristan Darby.

A big part of the Female Bartending Scholarship Programme is helping women to progress further in their career and supporting them in building their personal brand in hospitality. Applications for the 12-week programme close on 17th May with the first scholarship session due to start on Monday 19th June and graduation taking place at Hayman’s Distillery in September.
