Warm Welcomes and Thoughtful Touches

Arriving at Solent Hotel & Spa, we were immediately struck by its lush green surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. Parking was straightforward, and before long, we were inside the stylish reception area, where we received a warm and friendly welcome from the front desk team.

With key cards in hand, we were given all the information we needed for our stay, including details about the spa, restaurant bookings, and breakfast options. As we had treatments booked and had spent a long time navigating the M25 (which had decided to impersonate a car park that day), we headed straight to our room to freshen up before our appointment.

Signature Room: Comfort & Convenience

Our Signature Room was beautifully designed, with a plush bed, elegant furnishings, and all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The room was immaculately clean and had a relaxing, neutral colour palette, creating the perfect space to unwind. A Nespresso coffee machine sat neatly on the counter, perfect for coffee lovers, and fresh milk and filtered water dispensers were available just outside our door—an eco-friendly and convenient touch that added to the homely feel.

The en-suite bathroom was stocked with toiletries from The White Company, a brand synonymous with luxury, with shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion that brought a spa-like feel to even a simple morning shower. These small details elevated our stay and made the space feel like much more than just a hotel room—it was a retreat in itself.

Spa Treatments: Pure Relaxation

Before our treatment, we were invited to settle into the relaxation room, a quiet sanctuary designed for unwinding before and after treatments. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a calming atmosphere made it the perfect place to switch off from the outside world. Sipping on cucumber-infused water, we took a few deep breaths and fully embraced the sense of stillness.

We had opted for a 50-minute full-body massage, and from the moment it began, it was clear we were in expert hands. The therapist took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for from the treatment—whether we wanted tension relief, relaxation, or a mix of both. Using a blend of soothing essential oils, she worked her way through key pressure points, easing muscle knots and promoting deep relaxation. The rhythmic strokes combined with the ambient music created an almost meditative state, and by the time the session ended, we felt completely weightless.

After the treatment, we were encouraged to return to the relaxation room to prolong the post-massage bliss. Before leaving the spa, we took a moment to browse the range of products available for purchase. The team had kindly marked the ones used during our treatment, making it easy to take a little piece of the spa experience home with us.

By this point, the stress of the M25 felt like a distant memory. Relaxed and refreshed, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner.

Dinner at FYR Restaurant: A Culinary Delight

With our bodies relaxed and minds at ease, we had worked up an appetite and made our way to FYR restaurant, the hotel’s highly rated dining venue. The ambiance was lively yet intimate, with soft lighting and an open kitchen adding to the atmosphere. Although busy, the restaurant never felt overcrowded, and the attentive staff ensured a seamless dining experience.

The menu featured a selection of seasonal dishes, but the standout for us was the steak, cooked to perfection over an open fire grill. The smoky, charred exterior gave way to a juicy, tender centre, packed with rich, meaty flavour. Accompanied by perfectly seasoned sides and a silky peppercorn sauce, it was easily one of the best steaks we’ve had in a long time. Paired with handcrafted cocktails, the meal became a real highlight of the trip.

Would we come back just for dinner? Absolutely. FYR is a restaurant that holds its own, even outside the context of a hotel stay. Whether you’re a guest at Solent Hotel & Spa or simply looking for a top-tier dining experience in the area, it’s well worth a visit.

A Leisurely Breakfast & Spa Experience

After a restful night’s sleep, we booked a late breakfast, allowing us to fully savour the morning. The buffet spread was generous, with a wide variety of hot and cold options, from fresh pastries and fruit to full English breakfast classics. Despite being a buffet, guests also had the option to order specials directly from the kitchen, offering a more tailored experience.

With a few hours left before check-out, we decided to return to the spa and make the most of the facilities.

Solent Hotel & Spa has recently undergone a six-figure renovation, transforming its wellness area into a coastal-inspired sanctuary. The new design reflects the calm and beauty of the South Coast, with serene blue tones, lush greenery, and warm orange accents creating a balance of relaxation and inviting energy. As we stepped into the Pool Hall, we were welcomed by a beautifully curated space designed for total tranquillity.

The salt wall sauna offered a deeply soothing experience, with the mineral-rich environment helping to promote circulation and detoxification. Just a few minutes inside, and the warmth began to ease away the tension built up from our travels. Nearby, the steam room provided a warm, humid escape infused with aromatic vapours that opened our pores and encouraged a deep sense of relaxation. Moving on, we dipped into the jacuzzi, where the gentle bubbles worked their magic, loosening muscles and adding to the overall spa experience.

One of the highlights of the spa was the storm shower, a feature designed to replicate the sensation of a tropical rainstorm. With varying water pressures and aromatic infusions, this was more than just a shower – it was an immersive sensory experience that left us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. After a short swim in the inviting pool, we were more than ready to check out feeling completely restored.

Our 5 Top Tips for Making the Most of Your Stay

  1. Book Your Treatments in Advance – The spa is incredibly popular, and treatments fill up fast. To avoid disappointment, it’s best to schedule your appointments when booking your stay.
  2. Choose Your Pool Time Wisely – The pool is family-friendly, meaning children are allowed during certain times. If you’re after a quiet swim, check the adult-only hours. For families, the dedicated hours make it a great space to enjoy with little ones.
  3. Opt for a Late Breakfast – Booking a later breakfast slot allows for a more relaxed start to the day.
  4. Don’t Skip FYR Restaurant – Whether or not you’re staying at the hotel, the food here is outstanding.
  5. Take Time to Unwind in the Relaxation Room – Whether before or after your treatment, this space is perfect for extending the spa experience and fully immersing yourself in relaxation.

Final Thoughts: A Truly Restorative Getaway

From the tranquil spa experience and restful accommodations to the outstanding dining, everything about this trip was designed for relaxation and indulgence. With its recent renovations, the hotel has truly elevated its wellness and hospitality offerings, making it a standout destination on the South Coast.

Would we return? Without a doubt.
