Over the weekend, Yorkshire singer and social media star Liv Harland launched a new performance space at Xscape Yorkshire with an inaugural gig, introducing the centre’s ‘Busk Stop’. This designated spot will allow buskers to perform indoors, giving local talent a safe and focal area to showcase their music free of charge. The Busk Stop, developed in response to demand from buskers wishing to perform at the centre, is open to singers and musicians looking to reach Xscape’s steady stream of visitors.

After Liv’s opening performance, which brought her Yorkshire-born vocals to the heart of the centre, the Busk Stop is now open for public use during the October half-term and beyond. Performances will be held daily from 1pm to 5pm through to Sunday 3rd November, with a rotating schedule that offers guests a wide variety of live music and entertainment as they explore the centre.

Jason Warren, Centre Director at Xscape Yorkshire, commented on the initiative, saying, “After receiving direct requests from performers wanting to come and busk at Xscape, it’s exciting to be able to now offer a free-to-use designated safe place and focal point at our centre. It gives local singers and musicians an opportunity to play to a big walk-by audience and showcase their talent. As well as being great for aspiring talent in our region, it of course adds another layer of musical entertainment for our guests.”

The addition of the Busk Stop reflects Xscape’s commitment to supporting local talent while enhancing the visitor experience. The dedicated busking spot provides aspiring musicians with a platform to reach a wider audience and gives guests a taste of live music as they move through the centre. Xscape encourages interested performers to book a slot at the Busk Stop, ensuring that musical talent from the area has a chance to connect with the community in a lively and accessible setting.
