Taro, the popular Japanese restaurant group, has opened its 7th site in Brentwood and its 8th site in Catford this summer, bringing their much-loved, authentic Japanese cuisine to new locations. Known for cooking everything fresh to order, Taro continues to delight diners with its wide array of traditional Japanese dishes.
Small Plates and Sushi
For those who enjoy small plates, Taro offers a variety of delectable options. The grilled chicken or prawn gyoza, Takoyaki (deep-fried octopus balls with Japanese tonkatsu sauce), and a selection of fresh sushi, sashimi, and salads are perfect for the warmer weather. These dishes showcase the delicate flavours and precise techniques that Taro is celebrated for.
Main Courses and Bento Boxes
When it comes to satisfying mains, Taro does not disappoint. Diners can choose from piping hot bowls of ramen, udon noodles, and rice dishes. A firm favourite among regulars is Taro’s Bento Boxes. These traditional black and red trays are filled with Japanese classics such as sushi, tempura, katsu, and edamame, accompanied by hot miso soup and Japanese rice, providing an authentic taste of Japan.
Drinks to Complement the Cuisine
To complement Taro’s distinctive food, there is an exciting mix of hot and cold sake, Japanese beer, and soft drinks. Each beverage is carefully selected to enhance the dining experience, pairing perfectly with the fresh and flavourful dishes.
Local Flavours and Exclusive Dishes
Taro Catford will also feature award-winning bottled cocktails from local Catford business Bottle. These cocktails, produced in South London in small batches with natural ingredients, include the lychee martini made with fresh lychee juice, coconut syrup, and lime, which pairs wonderfully with Taro’s sushi and sashimi.
Taro Brentwood offers exclusive dishes such as the TanTan Ramen, a creamy ramen with a nutty sesame broth, spicy minced pork, and various toppings. Special sushi rolls include the Brentwood Roll, with prawn tempura and avocado topped with tuna tartare and the Essex Roll, a combination of salmon, prawn, tuna, and yellowtail filled with asparagus, avocado, and tobiko dressed with spicy mayo.
Mr Taro expressed his excitement about the expansion: “I’m thrilled to add two further sites to our portfolio this summer with the opening of Catford, South East London, and our first opening outside of London in Brentwood, Essex. It’s wonderful to be able to reach new diners outside of central London who share my passion for authentic homemade Japanese food.”
