Puttstars, the innovative indoor mini-golf brand operated by the Hollywood Bowl Group, has selected Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough for a regional debut location, set to open later this year.
Puttstars has expanded its portfolio across the UK since its launch in March 2020, with the Queensgate site set to be the brand’s fifth location. Located within Queensgate’s new leisure extension, the £2.5million, 20,000 sq ft venue will offer guests three unique, interactive nine-hole golf courses, designed for families and young adults. Created as an immersive and comprehensive entertainment experience, Puttstars Queensgate will also offer great food, drinks, and the latest arcade games.
Puttstars will be part of Queensgate’s emerging leisure line-up, joining a 10-screen Empire cinema within the £60m extension, which is set to complete this year. It will add nearly 80,000 sq ft of new leisure and experience-led floorspace, creating an additional 200 jobs at the Peterborough city centre destination.
Ed Ginn, Director of Investment Management at Invesco Real Estate, said: “The Queensgate leisure extension will significantly broaden the destination’s appeal for both new and regular visitors, future-proof its retail and leisure line-up, and cement its importance to Peterborough city centre. By choosing Queensgate for a debut site in the region, Puttstars add to the destination’s unique leisure proposition, and with Empire Cinemas forms the foundations of an incredibly exciting new development for Peterborough.”
Laurence Keen, Chief Financial Officer of Hollywood Bowl Group, added: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing the Puttstars brand to Peterborough, and joining the brand-new extension to Queensgate provides us with a bespoke space in a destination that has a huge customer base and great accessibility. The leisure market is developing fast, with people looking to socialise in new ways. As the new home of mini golf, Puttstars is perfectly placed to offer safe and entertaining experiences for everyone – families, friends and work colleagues alike.”
This news follows the announcement of Empire Cinemas as the anchor tenant of the new leisure extension, with the brand set to launch its 10-screen, 34,000 sq ft unit later this year.
