Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort has officially reopened following a comprehensive £20 million refurbishment, marking a new chapter for the historic estate located just ten minutes from Glasgow International Airport. The five-star property, now under the stewardship of the Dubai-based Dutco Group, aims to redefine the luxury country estate experience through a fusion of classic Scottish heritage and contemporary hospitality.

The revamped estate features 74 guest rooms and suites, spread across seven distinct categories. Designed to reflect the character and stately setting of the estate, the accommodation ranges from Classic Rooms, ideal for a quiet, restful stay, to Grand Suites that emulate the feel of a private residence. These larger suites feature separate lounges, grand pianos, or pool tables, with Spa Garden Suites offering secluded outdoor space for added indulgence. Design elements across the rooms include four-poster beds, rich textures, and artwork inspired by the local landscape, creating a consistent atmosphere of refined comfort and understated elegance.

At the heart of Mar Hall is The Gallery, the estate’s social epicentre and a welcoming space where guests can relax and connect. This open-plan hub is anchored by a marble-topped champagne bar and surrounded by casual seating areas, reading nooks, and a grand piano—a nod to the many celebrated musicians who have played there over the years. The Gallery also serves as the setting for the resort’s Afternoon Tea experience, designed by Executive Pastry Chef Szilard Szentesi. The menu offers an artistic assortment of delicately crafted pastries, savouries, and dainty sandwiches, accompanied by a curated selection of loose-leaf teas, Champagne, and sparkling wines.

Dining at Mar Hall is centred around The Dining Room, helmed by Executive Chef Tony Tapia. His seasonal menu showcases locally sourced ingredients, with signature dishes such as “West Coast Cullen” and tableside-served “Spicy Raw Beef”. Guests can also unwind at the Slàinte Bar, where Head Mixologist Chris Mullen delivers an imaginative cocktail experience, including “The 180”, a floral take on a whisky sour inspired by the estate’s 180-year legacy.

More secluded corners of the estate include The Library, designed as a quiet retreat with panoramic views across the Kilpatrick Hills and Clyde Estuary. For outdoor enthusiasts, Mar Hall offers a range of activities including an 18-hole championship golf course, off-road excursions, falconry, archery, and clay pigeon shooting. Helicopter tours and private whisky distillery visits are also available, alongside tailored guest itineraries curated by the in-house concierge team.

A covered walkway connects the heritage hotel to its modern spa, where visitors can access six treatment rooms, a 20-metre pool, and a selection of saunas and steam rooms. Spa packages, such as The Hebridean Hideout and Scottish Luxury Spa & Dine Indulgence, offer full-day rejuvenation options, blending wellness with culinary excellence.

Looking ahead, further developments are planned, including private woodland lodges and enhancements to the estate’s clubhouse and spa facilities.
