Eldon Square, Newcastle’s shopping and leisure destination, has announced that Flight Club, the global cocktail bar and Social Darts experience, will be joining its growing entertainment offering. Set to open later this year, Flight Club will occupy a 10,000 sq ft unit in Grey’s Quarter, with entrances within Eldon Square and on Nelson Street. This will mark the brand’s first location in the Northeast.

Flight Club’s Expansion in the UK

Since launching in Shoreditch in 2015, Flight Club has expanded to 15 UK locations, alongside venues in Ireland, the USA, and Australia. The brand is known for its technology-driven Social Darts concept, which allows groups of up to 12 people to take part in interactive multi-player games tailored for all skill levels.

The decision to bring Flight Club to Newcastle aligns with the venue’s strategy to offer a mix of leisure-led experiences, ensuring Eldon Square continues to evolve beyond traditional retail.

Immersive Design and Dining Experience

Flight Club’s Newcastle venue will incorporate the brand’s signature fairground-inspired décor, creating a dynamic and engaging setting that complements Eldon Square’s wider entertainment offering. The design will feature bespoke interiors and an energetic atmosphere, aiming to enhance the venue’s appeal for both daytime and evening visitors.

In addition to Social Darts, Flight Club is known for its food and drink offerings. Guests will have access to a diverse menu, featuring freshly made sourdough pizzas, burgers, and sharing plates. The drinks menu includes an extensive range of cocktails, craft beers, and premium spirits, reinforcing the venue’s position as a social hub.

Comments on the New Opening

Steve Moore, CEO and Founder of Flight Club, expressed enthusiasm about the brand’s expansion into Newcastle:

“Bringing Flight Club to Newcastle has been a long-term ambition for us. It’s a city that’s notorious for epic nights out, so we couldn’t be more excited to become a part of that when we open. We pride ourselves on creating spectacular bars with buzzing atmospheres that bring groups of people together for moments of unexpected, ridiculous, joy. We can’t wait to show the North East what a Flight Club party looks like.”

Kitty Vaughan, Head of UK Leisure and F&B at Pradera Lateral, Eldon Square’s Asset Management team, highlighted the impact of the new addition:

“Welcoming Flight Club to Eldon Square will strengthen our dynamic mix of leisure options, further enhancing our reputation as the premier shopping and entertainment hub in Newcastle. Our entertainment offering is crucial to attracting visitors to Eldon Square and the addition of such a renowned, experience-led brand will ensure we continue to attract diverse audiences to the centre.”

Enhancing Eldon Square’s Entertainment Offering

Flight Club’s arrival at Eldon Square reflects the wider evolution of shopping centres into multi-faceted destinations that combine retail, dining, and entertainment. The addition of experience-led venues such as Flight Club is aimed at increasing visitor dwell time, attracting a broad demographic, and solidifying Eldon Square’s reputation as a key leisure and retail destination in Newcastle.
