The Fairmont Monte Carlo has announced the completion of a major full-property transformation as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. The extensive redesign spans all areas of the historic waterfront hotel, from guest rooms and suites to dining venues, event spaces and environmental systems, establishing a refreshed identity rooted in Monegasque charm and sustainability.

Originally opened in 1975 by Princess Grace of Monaco, the hotel has undergone a significant renewal to mark its golden jubilee. The updated look incorporates soft cream and ocean blue tones throughout guest rooms and suites, which are now equipped with refined furnishings and private terraces overlooking the sea, gardens or the Grand Prix Hairpin bend. New Resort Suites, designed with families in mind, will be introduced this year, featuring kitchen facilities, expansive living areas, and panoramic terraces.

Central to the refresh is the debut of Amù Monte Carlo, a rooftop dining concept named after the Monégasque word for “love”. The venue offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu alongside sea views. Just above, Amù by the Pool provides a more casual poolside experience, with light fare and cocktails.

Nobu Monte Carlo has also undergone an interior redesign. The updated space integrates Japanese craftsmanship with local Riviera elements, including oak wood and soft lighting, offering guests a tranquil dining atmosphere with unobstructed sea views.

Elsewhere, the Lobby Lounge Restaurant & Bar has been refurbished with a serene ambiance and operates 24/7, serving international cuisine with modern interpretations. Guests can enjoy Mediterranean views while sampling a cocktail menu that complements the food offering.

Event facilities have not been overlooked in the upgrade. Le Grand Salon now features flexible layouts and enhanced technology, accommodating up to 1,500 guests. The redesign positions the Fairmont Monte Carlo as one of the Côte d’Azur’s most adaptable venues for conferences, weddings, and high-profile events.

A key component of the renovation is a significant investment in sustainability. In partnership with SeaWergie and SMEG, the hotel has integrated into Monaco’s thalassothermal network, which uses seawater for heating and cooling. The upgrade included the enhancement of the hotel’s original seawater pumping station, tripling its capacity and connecting it to a system serving 10 buildings. This initiative is forecast to eliminate nearly 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually—equivalent to 3% of Monaco’s total greenhouse gas emissions—and significantly boosts energy efficiency.

With this wide-ranging transformation, Fairmont Monte Carlo is embracing the future of luxury hospitality while honouring its half-century legacy on the Riviera. The redesign reflects both a respect for Monaco’s cultural heritage and a renewed focus on environmentally responsible operation.
