Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor group, has announced the opening of Fairmont Golden Prague, unveiling a comprehensive restoration of one of the city’s most architecturally distinctive buildings. Situated on the banks of the Vltava River at the entrance to Pařížská Boulevard, the property reimagines a brutalist structure originally designed in 1974 by Czech architect Karel Filsak.
The restoration, led by architect Marek Tichý, preserves key interior elements including blown glass chandeliers, gilded fixtures, and sculpted wood columns, while introducing contemporary hospitality features throughout the hotel. The redesign blends Czech heritage with modern comforts and understated elegance, positioning the property as a new destination for both business and leisure travellers.

The hotel includes 320 rooms, suites, and serviced residences, all finished with a modernist aesthetic in tones of dark wood and light finishes. Glass features inspired by traditional Czech artistry have been integrated into the room layouts, highlighting the property’s design heritage.

Dining is central to the guest experience at Fairmont Golden Prague. The rooftop restaurant Zlata Praha offers seasonal fine dining with panoramic views of the city, while Golden Eye brings a 1970s-style modern Asian concept to the skyline. The ground floor includes several venues with a cultural focus. Coocoo’s Nest, a lobby bar named in homage to Czech-American filmmaker Miloš Forman, combines food and drink with a curated art space. Greenhouse serves Czech pilsners and grilled dishes in a relaxed setting with views of the river and Prague Castle.

The hotel also showcases a significant art collection, mixing works from the 1960s and 1970s with contemporary pieces. Highlights include chandeliers by René Roubíček and sculptural works by Miroslav Hejný and Čestmír Kafka, aligning with the building’s original artistic intent.

Fairmont Golden Prague features a 1,400 sqm Fairmont Spa & Wellness centre, which offers five treatment suites, three saunas, a steam bath, and an indoor-outdoor pool. There is also a modern fitness studio and a garden retreat. Guests staying in Fairmont Gold rooms will have access to a private lounge, with additional benefits including exclusive check-in, complimentary dining throughout the day, and personalised services.

Event space includes a 600 sqm column-free ballroom, multiple meeting areas, and three rooftop boardrooms with private terraces and full AV capability. The property aims to attract both international events and local gatherings.
Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said: “The opening of Fairmont Golden Prague is a significant milestone for Fairmont as we continue to grow our presence in Europe. Prague is a city with an incredible story to tell, and we are honoured to play a part in preserving its great heritage.”

Fairmont operates more than 10 hotels across Europe, including The Savoy in London and Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland. Fairmont Golden Prague becomes the latest addition to this portfolio, with further openings planned in Udaipur, Bangkok, Tokyo, Hanoi, New Orleans, and the English countryside.
