A Culinary Journey Rooted in Heritage
AngloThai opened on 11 November 2024, bringing a distinctive fusion of Thai and British influences to the London dining scene. With a seasonally evolving tasting menu, the restaurant showcases the bold flavours and traditional techniques of Thai cuisine while incorporating ingredients sourced from across the British Isles.
Speaking about the achievement, John Chantarasak expressed his gratitude for the recognition:
“We are overjoyed and proud to be bestowed the honour of a Michelin star after a decade-long journey to open our restaurant. This accolade wouldn’t be possible without the tireless work from our superstar team who strive for excellence each and every day. It’s such an exciting moment for Thai food in the UK, and I personally owe so much to the generosity of the Thai community who inspire every aspect of AngloThai.”
Desiree Chantarasak added:
“Words can’t describe how thrilled we are after receiving a Michelin star. It has been almost 10 years in the making, and the biggest thank you to our supporters, the producers, our families and most importantly, our partners, Jake and Marco, for always believing in us. Our phenomenal team are instrumental in making AngloThai what it is today, and for that, we are eternally grateful.”

A Space Designed for Comfort and Creativity
Located on Seymour Place in Marylebone, the restaurant features a 44-cover dining room with an open kitchen and a private dining space, Baan, set to open later this year. The interior design, led by Thai-American designer May Redding, blends elements of contemporary Thai design with warm, homely touches.
The space incorporates bespoke furniture crafted by Moonler in Chiang Mai, lighting from Robert Sukachard of Pern Baan, and ceramics from renowned artisans in Thailand and the UK. Music plays a key role in the restaurant’s atmosphere, with a carefully curated playlist created in collaboration with Ben Baptie, a sound engineer known for working with artists such as The Strokes, Little Simz, and Lady Gaga.
An Exciting Future for AngloThai
AngloThai operates Tuesday to Saturday for dinner and Wednesday to Saturday for lunch, with reservations in high demand following the Michelin recognition. The award cements the restaurant’s position as one of London’s most exciting new dining destinations and underscores the growing appreciation for innovative Thai cuisine in the UK.
